Despite taking fewer classes related to technology and engineering, eigth-grade girls continue to outperform boys on a national test.

1n 2018, the Technology and Engineering Literacy Assessment was given to 15400 eighth graders from about 600 schools across the country. The test includes multimedia tasks and scenario-based tasks that ask students to solve problems or achieve goals such as building a bike path or creating a museum exhibit. Girls scored an average of five points higher than boys.
