
When most required reading for students features books written by white males between 1800 and 1950, it’s no wonder kids start to find reading a drag.
Author Jolie A. Doggett says “We’re still giving kids novels with characters who don’t look like them, who don’t talk like them and who don’t even have internet access and we wonder why they don’t like reading.”
