Schools in the United Stated are thinking of ways to get more students from diverse backgrounds to perform at elite levels.

Research shows that students from disadvantaged backgrounds tend to score lower on standardized tests than their peers. By relying less on these tests, educators are hoping to widen access to advanced learning programs. The University of Chicago has even recently stopped requiring SAT or ACT scores for admission.
