About MCAT Prep

What is the MCAT and how can Brainstorm help prepare students for this rigorous test?

First, the MCAT stands for Medical College Admissions Test. This six-and-a-half-hour exam is composed of 4 sections that test a pre-medical student’s knowledge on their undergraduate courses.

Subjects include, but are not limited to:

  • chemistry
  • physics
  • biology
  • biochemistry
  • organic chemistry
  • anatomy and physiology
  • genetics
  • psychology
  • sociology

One of the sections is also dedicated to critical reading which is called the critical reasoning and analysis section (CARS). The entire test revolves around passage-based questions with discrete “one-off” questions sprinkled in.

So how can Brainstorm help?

Brainstorm now offers three different services for pre-medical students:

The first offering is one-on-one tutoring with MCAT specialists. These tutors have extensive knowledge in these undergraduate courses and experience with the MCAT and the strategies needed to STORM the test! The one-on-one tutoring will concentrate on high yield topics frequently tested on the MCAT while helping students practice and build their stamina for this extensive test.

In addition to one-on-one tutoring, Brainstorm is offering a one-day, 10-hour boot camp. This boot camp will be offered several times throughout the year and is open to 10 students at a time. 10 students, 10 hours! This is to ensure that every student is able to ask questions and get specialized help. There will be one 1-hour session that reviews general MCAT knowledge and strategies and six 1.5-hour sessions that will go over many of the topics covered on the MCAT from these undergraduate courses.

Lastly, Brainstorm is offering medical school admissions coaching. This program is designed to review students’ applications, personal statements, and candidacy in general. Students will work with a specialist who will act as an important mentor that knows what medical school admissions offices are looking for.

With all of these great services, Brainstorm is ready to not only help students STORM the MCAT, but also get that crucial interview and ultimately achieve their dream of becoming a medical doctor!
